    my e30 = electircal nightmare!

so i have no. dash lights, no tach, no speedo, no econ, no water temp.
no passenger side tail light. no plate light. and im sure somthing eles.
all fuses are good. any ideas o n what to test for the cluster or am i better off looking for a new.

on a side note the car is a 5 speed swap with a M50 B25 (NV).

    thanks guys.

Most likely its going to be a main source thats out.

have you checked the wiring adapter made for the engine? did you do the swap, or did you buy it swapped? the temp needs a special connector to work, and if its a PFL car you need to hook up the C104 connector in the glovebox to have the tach work/econ guage(it will not be accurate though)

Also the speedo sensor could be disconnected or shot, it is in the Diff.

Last thing, maybe there is a short in the fuse box, open it up and have a look at the wires, to cause that much it would be a pretty extensive mess(fire maybe?)

Its possible that your almost everything in your car is toast(dash, tail light, backlights etc) but its more likely that they just arent getting power or signal

Try testing the SI board battery and the board itself, that should cover the majority of the cluster problems.

Fuses can look fine and still be bad. Try replacing the one for the cluster and see what happens.

Sounds like maybe a connector is loose or unplugged.

hey man i had the same problem. u said it was swaped to a 5spd right check the reverse wire under the boot it may be pinched against the chassis tape it up and tape the chassis to provide and cushion so insulation wont be cut and therefore creating a short.
