if you set the HIGH PASS up higher then you might make the mids/tweeters distort less (since they both use the same channel) but you don't want to set the HIGH PASS too high as then you'll have no midbass upfront.... If you set the high pass too low on the front speakers then the midbass/midrange might distort more on lower frequencies... so it's finding the right balance between the two.
