Any of the Pioneer BT decks work fine, but I prefer the Kenwood bluetooth myself.

So a quick question to the OP: Do you think your GPS signal will work when your iFone is an inch away from a metal roof?

Yeah I tried it out a couple times and the GPS works fine. Now I just have to find a way to secure it up there

I just noticed something cool tonight. If you lay the iphone flat on the dash, the reflection shows up on the windshield. sort of like a cheap headsup display. you have to admit this is "safer" than my original idea...haha. To explain a little on why I'm pursuing this idea. I do alot of long roadtrips and this would take the boredom out of driving for 4-5hrs straight on highways.

Actually, I have an app called aSmart HUD which you can get with amber colors so that it matches the rest of the lights in the car. It works pretty good, and is somewhat accurate (tested against my TomTom Go 730t) but it only works in the dark. The GPS will not work as a HUD as its not mirrored, and the contrast are too small.
Just buy a decent GPS unit. I never use the HUD, and if you think it would take the boredom away from driving straight for hours you'd be disappointed. It's not like it's more exiting watching a straight line on the GPS.

Love my pioneer with bluetooth, video through my ipod, as well as music, and it will charge it, all on a screen that flips in if its bothering your eyes at night. It has a little readout on the display face so you can see what you are doing

get a REALLY long ipod cable and if your deck can run an ipod cable off the back go up the side by the door and run it under the covering on the roof. just like putting the ipod hookup in your glove box but it keeps going to your check panel. then you can play music and charge your phone all at the same time.
