    Which Components to buy?

I've pretty much narrowed it down to two sets of components that I'm deciding on. If anybody can give me any worthwhile advice as to which one I should choose, I would really appreciate it.

    Set 1:

    a/d/s/ 236is

    Specs: http://mainstreet-caraudio.com/car/ADS/236is.htm

    Set 2:

    Crystal Mobile Sound CSc60s

    6.5" High performance 2-way component System • Woofer 6.5" (165mm) PPY Injected Cone • Tweeter 1" (25mm) SILK SOFT dome • Peak Power Handling 150 Watts • RMS Power Handling 75 Watts • Sensitivity 90 dB • Impedance 4 ohm • Frequency Response 60Hz - 21KHz • Mounting depth 2 1/2" (63mm)

I would go with the A/D/S ones on looks alone.

My friend was going to get the crystals before he heard some negative feedback on them. I'll ask him what he heard.

Hasn't a/d/s gone down in quality the past couple of years?

What did your friend hear negative regarding the crystals?

The quality of a/d/s/ products since their buy-out by Direceted is debatable. I've heard points of view from both sides. However, the consensus seems to be that their products have gone a bit downhill from 'amazing' to 'extremely good'.

Here is the e-mail he sent me...

"When I was looking at the crystals, (csc 60s) compared to the cheaper, CDTs
they didn't provide as good midbass... the CDTs were said to go much lower,
and stronger. Also, I'm not sure if they have quite the power handling...
from people that have heard both, they like the cdts in terms of midbass,
but the crossover on the crystals is nicer. They are good speakers, but tell
the person they should listen to the CDT, and the Diamond audio components
in that price range too... "

He is refering to the CDT CL62.

He also said this, but it really isn't "concrete," so to say...

"Oh... and when talking to like 5 different people that had 5000 plus posts
on Caraudioforums.com they all told me to avoid the crystals.. didn't give a reason
(reliability/quality control is what I think) but just said... Take my
advice and avoid them... however there are lots of people out there that are
            happy with them"

The CDT CL-62 is only $199 + free shipping on www.audionmore.com with a free upgraded 24db/oct crossover. I think I'm going to jump on them soon.

That's ana awesome price. My friend got them from CDT direct for around $220 *I think*. CDT painted them "too dark a shade of red," so they were selling their whole batch massivly marked down, warrenty and all.

                Great speakers.

OK, I finally just bought a set of components.

                  CDT EF-61CFi/20
                  System price: $409.99
                  6.5" 2-way "Carbon Fiber"
                  Midrange: 6.5" Cast
                  Crossover: SatNet-560"Transient Optimized" Elliptic 4th/5th order 2-way
                  Tweeter: 3/4 in. Silk Dome
                  Power handling: 140 watt RMS
                  Frequency response: 55-20kHz
                  Sensitivity: 92 dB.
                  Impedance: 4 Ohm
                  Surface & flush mount tweeter

                  Crossovers:

Technically speaking, the SatNet crossover design is a fourth order/24dB per octave design supplemented by a series first order/6dB per octave on the front end. The unique combination of the two creates a virtual 10th order, 60dB per octave crossover where the critical crossover point between the mid and tweeter is.

The benefits of the design are many. First, the power transition between midrange and tweeter is virtually identical. Phase response problems and polarity shifts are almost entirely eliminated. What you HEAR, is a much more natural sounding component system, as if it were that one perfect speaker.

I'll be putting around 80-90 watts rms to them.

I paid $180 for them brand new. You can find them on a lot of audio websites for around $230 though.
