Best alarms with remote start options?

Im running the Viper right now but its a bit bulky and long in the tooth so I want something more compact. I want it to just do alarm, keyless, remote start, flash the parking lights, and turn on/off the interior lights when arming/unarming.

A small factory looking fob (i.e. dont need the bling bling pagers or anything, just lock, unlock, and start buttons).

Ideas? Good quality makers nowadays that are readily available local (I want ot look at it before I buy it to decide if I can fit it where I want to put it)?
    Im now E30less.

The Directed stuff is actually very reliable and flexible. However last I checked (few months back) they still didn't have their remote start setup for manual cars ready. It was due soon though, so you may be in luck. My current system also needs to be changed and I'll be going the Viper route, which I never expected before I started researching.

No matter, I was planning on just grounding out the sensor or attaching it to the backup light switch. I dont put it in gear when I park and when people do they always pop it into reverse.

I have always liked directed but the relay packs and brains are often kinda big and there isnt much room behind the dash of the E30, I want move it from under the knee bolster.

I've had several compustar alarms and I've had no problems with them.

I had a CompuStar pager alarm with remote start, and it did its function great. Except I would never get a pager alarm until they make some kind of a key-lock function and vibrate mode like cellfones.
I couldn't put my CompuStar pager in my pocket because when I did, I would accidently press on the buttons, and because of the damn long range, I found myself unlocking my car etc from far away

CompuStar makes regular 4 button alarms with an option of remote start, i'd look at those. They are fairly cheap too.

I too am looking at Compustar alarms. On ebay they say the alarm can remote start a manual tranny car safely. How? Anyone know?

I want remote start but only if it is safe...

The accidental locking is a problem...

If I'm not mistaken there's a sensor which detects if the car is in gear or not.

more likely a switch connected to the ebrake. Ebrake down, wont start.

                  None of those.

You have to perform a special sequence when you leave the car. You have to engage the parking brake, take the key out of the ignition (the car remains running), close the door, and arm the system (which shuts off the motor). You can now remote start it. If any door is opened before you start it, the system will not activate.

It may be slightly different from that, but very similar IIRC.

I have a Clifford G5 which has the option to roll up windows and have a remote start. Currently I have a motion sensor hook in with it (for when the top is down). 3-Button remote.

My car started it's life as an automatic, so would I have to go through that procedure? I never park in gear anymore (other peeps just love to reach over and start it).

bringin' back an old thread... I have a 91 318is, and I want to get an alarm system. It sounds like everyone is happy with their compustar, but I just want a basic alarm system maybe remote start,, no pager necesary. Is there anyone who can recommend a certain compustar model that has these features for a good price?
