Aftermarket Radio & Amp wiring Question

    Audio Gurus:

I will be installating an Alpine CDA-9847 and an alpine amp on my cabrio that currentlly has premium sound.

My question is, how do I wire the premium front speakers using the existing wires from the trunk, which color from the wires in the stock amp should I connect to my Alpine Amp? Do I need to disconnect anything from the front premium tweeters?

    Thanks.

Your gonna have to bypass the fader too. Your gonna waste more time looking for the correct wires than you would if you just re wired it. It literally takes like one hour to run some speaker wires and RCA's through your door sills

Thanks, I have no fader. I read somewhere that the easiest way is to use the existing wire in the trunk, not sure which colors though. Last resort will be running new wires, just trying to find and easier way.

nah, you're gonna wanna re-wire it.. If irc, the speakers are a 1-wire setup and the tweeters run off ground so unless you know a way to run the negative for the audio through the chassis (without noice) you're screwed with that idea.

If you are mounting the amp in the trunk, do NOT rewire your speakers IF you had premium sound.

Repeat, do NOT rewire your speakers.

The fader is before the amp, so it does not matter.

There are 2 wires going to each corner of the car, so the weird ass tweeter wiring will have no effect on your install...and it is still easier to wire the 4 speakers from the trunk...plus, the BMW wire is stunningly good, even 20 years old.

          Here are your color codes:

          Left front: Grey/red +
          Grey/violet -

          Right front: Grey/white +
          Grey/brown -

          Left rear: Black/violet +
          Black/brown -

          Right rear: Black/white +
          Black/brown -

You should find these as 4 twisted pair at the amp. Run the RCAs and the remote wire up the drivers side, but be prepared for a hassle in getting it through.

I prefer to use an assistant.

Here she is running the power wire in an MTech2 'vert:

Here she is terminating the wiring in the trunk:
