Factory Sony Deck & Changer - Convert to Aux?

Is it possible to convert the factory cd changer port on my Sony HU to recieve an Aux input?

I would like to run my iPhone through the factory HU (cannot find a decent looking aftermarket HU for the car) the connection is a round 13 pin female connection on the back of the HU, would it be possible to find the same connector (13 pin male) and make my own aux connector? i really do not want to cut the factory wire...

Also if i want to rewire my speakers (change from stock econo speakers to premium) with an aftermarket amplifier is it possible again with the factory head unit? or am I just looking for trouble? :D

I found the pinouts for the factory changer somewhere.

You will need to convince the deck that there is a changer attached, then you can has audio input.

ahh.. so its not as simple as just taking an adapter and finding the audio in's... do i need to loop a set of pins? or will i need to leave the current changer pluged in and then tap into the wire with a new audio in (cut off the audio in's coming from the changer)...

any help would be greatly appreciated, it's been hell trying to look for a deck that suites the interior...

also do you know if i am able to wire an aftermarket amp for the stock HU? thanks

do you think that the kenwood protocol is the same as the sony's?

if so, then would i be able tap into wires 8,12 & 6 to create an aux out?

No BMW deck uses Sony or Kenwood protocol: either Pioneer or Alpine, but both tweaked to BMW spec.

The early E34/E32 CD changer decks could plug straight into Pioneer "M Bus", but that changed in 1990 or '91.

so my factory sony deck and changer would most likely use a Pioneer or Alpine protocol? that sounds strange...

is there anyway for me to test which leads would be audio out on the changes? strip the shielding and test the voltages?

                  Wait, what?

Sony never made decks for BMW.

WHAT the HELL is that? I have seen HUNDREDS of BMW decks, hell, hundreds of E30 decks alone and I have never seen that.

                          Fucking cool, though.

that would likely be the old Sony 13 pin architecture...but since you have the changer, you should be able to determine the pinouts pretty easy.

Pop dat bish out of the dash and post a pic of the backside, would you?

ok so it looks like it is possible for me to adapt the cd changer plug into an aux input for my iphone, now the question is will i be able to use a dock from ebay?

use the car charger to power the dock and charge my phone while using the line out into the aux., (i can wire the car charger permanently from underneath the centre console - so its invisible and same with the line out)

do you guys think this will work?
