Aux fan doesn't work on low

I disconnected the temp switch in the radiator and jumped the wires. High speed works, but low speed doesn't. I swapped the relays and it didn't change anything. So I'm thinking the resistor is bad. What's the easiest way to change it out? It looks like I'm going to have to take the bumper and valence off just to change the resistor.

EDIT: And actually, I just looked at realoem and it looks like there's two resistors on the fan.

EDIT 2: And Pelican has totally different resistors than what I see on my fan and on realoem.

There is more than one style of aux fan on the e30, depends on year/model. Match it what you have in the car for easiest fitment etc..

Hey e30Nova. Your assumption that the faults is the bad resistance is most likely correct. Just bypass it and redo the tests tomake sure. It is a basic ceramic resistance that is easy to soldier in. You can even change the value to achieve a different speed...

Have you also checked the fuses for the aux fan, there is one 30 amp for high speed and 15 amp for low speed.

I just replaced my fan w/o removing the bumper or valance, you have to under the top condenser/radiator mounting bolts to move it close to the engine.

In my case fan was dead, and both fuses were blown as well, relays were ok.
