alright guys, i have a 4channel amp, that apparently has built in crossovers, but i also bought a full set of components with crossovers, and i wanted to know how i should set this up. here is the amp i have: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...etailComponent
and here are the adjustment options:

Those are bare bones basic amp crossovers, but I would still use them over stand alone component crossovers unless they are very good.

Either way its up to you.

Turn the LPF, HPF knob too off, that way you can adjust the frequencies going to your speakers threw your other cross overs.

Putting the gain to normal would be the easiest thing to do, but I am sure Ken or someone will go into the proper explanation on how to set it up while using cross overs (I am lazy and not 100% sure)

      Sold it.

Really? I have never used cross overs first hand but I had assumed the seperate ones were better since thats there only purpose.

        Sold it.

My MBQ's perform worlds better with the JL amps internal crossovers then they did with thier seperate crossovers.

interesting, i will have to set it up both ways and see which one i like better...but this amp is pretty sub-par, so iuno how good its gonna sound...anymore input?
i just cant wait to get offa the damn factory premium sound system, its sucks hard...and the PO wired the deck through the stock wiring, so the fade is all to the front channel, and u have to sdjust with the stock fader switch which is horrible and crackly...

Those crossovers are pretty worthless. Set both of them to high-pass and set the frequency to around 100Hz or so. That'll cut all of the really low frequencies out of the mids you're going to hook up to the amp. You're still going to have to use the passive crossovers that came with the component set because the active ones inside the amp don't allow a high pass above 120Hz (you'd need it at around 4000Hz for the tweeters).
If I were you, I would bride channel 1 and 2 to the left component set and set the crossover to highpass at 100Hz, then bridge channel 3 and 4 to the left component and put the crossover settings the same. All of this is assuming you're just going to run front speakers.

                To adjust the gains:
                1. Turn the gains on the amp ALL the way down
                2. Turn the volume on your deck as high as it will go
                3. Slowly increase the gains on the amp until you hear the slightest bit of distortion, then turn them down a bit so you don't hear it anymore.

im actually plannin on running 4 components offa this amp. i got 5 1/4 all around, im still contemplating whether or not to hook up a sub also, i dont know if that will be too much power drawn with 2 amps going at the same time without a capacitor...i do have a red top ultima battery though...

Run the two right components (front and rear) in parallel into channel 1, then do the same with the left speakers and run them into channel 2. Then set the high pass crossover to 90Hz. Then bridge the rear two channels to a sub and set the low pass crossover to 90Hz also.

Isn't it different with cross overs?

Not if you're just using the passive ones.
