Is it possible to fix a what might be a blown speaker?

I have a set of speakers i was given for free from a friend, one works and sounds great and the other sounds like only a tiny about of treble or....higher pitch audio comes from it and it is very weak.
My question is can it be repaired at home? They are only 70 bucks new

The reason i ask is because id rather learn about stereo/audio equipment and troubleshooting than just buy something if i could avoid it.

I have a brand new headunit, all new wiring etc...and it was like that before, no amp ever powered these :)
If these are indeed "blown" i also would like to learn what causes it to become like that, or more specifically what fails.

Any ideas or advice is greatly appreciated!

Some can, some can't. I highly doubt they make a re-cone kit with a new voice coil for that speaker. I've had woofer repaired before, but it was a $200+ 10 sq driver and they actually made factory repair kit for it (about half the price of the new woofer).

If you are only getting high pitch sound, sounds like a woofer(midwoofer) coil is blown. Can be caused from too much power going to it, and it overheating/burning out or amplifier clipping and sending DC voltage to it and quickly burning the voice coil out. If you know how to use DVM, you can confirm if the coil is burned.

    At $69 I wouldn't even bother.
