I need to build a stereo that hurts

Music isn't music unless you can feel it

anyway, with a budget set at about $1000 and already having a Nakamichi head unit in my posession that I'd like to keep.. I need to build a stereo that will hurt my ears. Don't ask why.
It needs to keep up with metal double bass, but be able to still hold a low note. I was thinking about a woofer in the rear foot area behind each driver's seat and not using anything for rear fill. I could mount the amp where the rear seat bottom would normally be with and use ported fans or something through to cool it (but that's not the point)
I was looking at JL 10w0 and 8w3v2 for the woofers because I don't have the money for too much and they don't need to much space.
I'm looking into 6.5" front components or 6.5/4/tweeter components for the front but don't know what to get or what to power them with.
I am capable of building my own enclosures, though I don't care what it looks like so it probably won't be pretty.
    Throw some ideas at me

If you want some kick ass midbass, check out illusion audio. They make some extrememly low profile 8" woofers (magnet of the front of the cone) that could easily go in an enclusure where the map pocket is. Then you could match them up with a 5.25" comp set for a bitchin 3-way setup in the front. I'd try and find a nice 6-channel amp with built in active crossovers for the front state. maybe an a/d/s/ PQ20 or something...
If you want something brutal in the low-notes, get a couple of 10"s. They'll be able to keep up with fast kick-drums. Resoant Engineering makes some badass subs. Then I'd pick up a Soundstream Reference 1000 off of eBay. KILLER amp.

that's the kind of shit I was looking for Ken, you're the man!
That reverse magnet deal is really neat
should I put the 5.25s in the stock location or make some kind of box for them in the doors? I could also do something like Jordan did where the speakers are still in the kickpanel but they point to the center of the car.. I did that for a stereo install in a 2002 because I had to add tweeters and mids to the kickpanels without modifying anything (other than cutting a half moon behind the panel for the speaker magnet)

I've been dicking around on the internet and this is what I've found that would be pretty cool
            (2) RE10 woofers 175W RMS (Dual 4ohm) Wired both in series and parallel for a total 4ohm load
            (2) ZAPCO Reference 350.2 amps
            - 350x1 @ 4ohms for the woofers
            - 100x2 @ 4 ohms for the components

and to keep costs down, Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 6.5" component setup for the fronts because people seem to say good things about them...

This is definitely open to suggestions, but I'm doing my best to jump in and research this

I looked into Illusion and they seem to be very hard to get a hold of :(

anyone else can feel free to chime in with experiences n shit

This is what I would get: (Actually this is what i will probably end up getting, but I have other places that I'm spending my money on at the current moment)

              - Image Dynamics Chameleon Components

              - 2x Image Dynamics IDQ8s fitted in the rear deck (if thats possible)

              or

              - Image Dynamics IDMAX 10 (for some serious juice  )

I've only heard the ID components (and also the older IDQ10), and they are absolutely amazing. And I have heard that their newer subwoofers are equally amazing, so I wouldn't hesistate on trying them out.

As for amps, if you have the money, Phoenix Gold Ti500.4 is an awesome amp (I wish i kept it ) and would be able to power your components and sub(s).

When I buy my system, I will most likely buy Hifonics Zeus amp(s) as they are relatively cheap, and I have heard great things about them.

You could keep it under a grand if you went with ID Chameleons, 1 or 2 IDQ 8 or 10, with 1 4channel amp, or 1 2ch and mono.

You should get the same components that I just got. They're better than the Perfects and they're around the same price.

The Illusions are hard to find. I see them on eBay now and then, but they go for around $100 each speaker.

Those Zapco's are pretty good amps.
Try and find a Precision Power A600 if you can on eBay (there are a few on there right now). They were some of the best 2 channel amps that PPI ever made. They're rated at 150x2 RMS @ 4 ohms. They'll power the shit out of the CDT components and will keep them singing at volume levels above your pounding sub.

                Highly recommended sub:

                DrMcDave just got one.

As for an amp for the sub, look for a Sounstream Reference 500, 700, or 1000. Or you can look for an older Phoenix Gold MS or MPS series amp.

what ken said looks pretty good, u could look into the RE SE subs and maybe the SX its a little more expenisve and is a cheap SPL sub, dont know if it will be accurate enough for you. the SE is more of a SQ woofer but it can get loud with 1000 watts.

also check out soundsplinter.com, ive heard really good things about their top of the line 12" sub and maybe stereointegrity.com for a 12" D2 if it can fit into ur budget, but i dont think they have any subs right now

also for comps the RE RE is supposed to be crazy for 150, really good midbass. reaudio.com

zapco stuff is still top of the line (i think) but its crazy expensive.

I would have to agree with Ken, get the CDT over the infinities, i didnt like the infinities, they were just way too bright. And i would also have to agree with Kens suggestion on amps and subs, the IDMAX 10 and the REs are just killer subs, the PPI and soundstream are also good amps, although the soundstream runs a little bit warm. Use to own PPI a600 and a404.4, simply loved it but it has no crossovers tho, just keep that in mind, i would get the soundstream probably b/c they come with built in crossovers therefore you could have them highpass for some snappier midbass. Since with 10s your sub will have no problem keeping up with drum beats. If you could afford 2 10s that would be awesome.
