Sometimes I don't drive my car for a few weeks, often the battery is drained. I believe this is primarily due to the factory radio security LED slowly draining my battery. I don't drive my car in the winter, so this becomes more of an issue. I have a battery maintainer, but I'm always a little concerned about something catching on fire when no one is around. Is there any way to "turn-off" the LED without removing a fuse?

You could just isolate the battery whenever you leave the car sitting for a while. If you get the 2nd one you could even do it from inside the car and wouldn't have to lift the hood or anything

Are you sure there isn't some other drain elsewhere? An LED would take several months to even begin to drain the battery. I'd hook a amp meter up inline with the battery and see how much of a drain there actually is.Comment

I'm not certain if there is a drain anywhere else, no blown fuses or shorts that I'm aware. Everything seems to be working fine, no aftermarket amps or anything. Last winter I pulled a fuse (can't remember which one right now), and the battery lasted maybe a month or so. The problem is everything with a memory is erased. I thought there may be a code to turn-off the radio's security feature.Comment
