    5.25" Speakers

Hey, I was looking through this thread: http://www.r3vlimited.com/phpBB2/vie...=5+25+speakers

And noticed that everyone had different 5.25" speakers. Right now I am running a RF 400a4 amp with a RF 12" sub (not sure which one but it was around $350 3 years ago). I am still using the stock speakers but 2 of them have crapped out.

Can I get some recommendations a a quality set of speakers? I would like to upgrade both front and back. I listen to all kinds of music (rock, rap...). I am clueless when it comes to stereo systems. Should I do just speakers? Components?

    Budget is around $200-300.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

You're looking to lay down $300 on two pairs? Or are you just wanting to replace the blown ones?

I'd go with just a set of components in the front and then some 5.25" midbass drivers in the rear.

        Front:

        Rear:
        Image Dynamics CX5 - 2 ohm version
www.carmedia1.com has them for $129 for the pair. Make sure you select the 2 ohm model.

I put in a set of 5.25" Infinity Kappa components up front and I'm happy with them... they're powered by a 4 channel RF amp, the rears are still stock but the gain is really low on them. I just use them for a little rear fill... As for the tweeter I just mounted them where the premium tweeter would be if my car came with them

you WON'T find any mid bass drivers to fit in the rear, in fact there are very few speakers that will fit... 4" fit, and I've seen maybe three to four other brand speakers that fit... The problem is the magenet has to be REALLY small, like a 4" magenet size...

What's the maximum depth that a rear speaker can be in a cabrio?

Very very approximate: 2-1/8" to 2-1/4".

No, I haven't installed the CDTs yet. Not until after xmas will I get a chance to.

                          Aaron,
I have some RF Fanatic X mids that I'll be getting rid of after xmas if you want them. I think they'd be low profile enough to fit in the rear... but I'll have to measure. $50 shipped and they're yours.
For the fronts, I'd either get those a/d/s/ 5.25" components. Or there is a guy on the board selling some CDT 5.25" components.

Ken measure the magnet from the stock speakers and compare that with the speakers you have, if it's bigger it won't work because it'll hit the inner fender.
