    Sound deadening/speakers for e30

    Hey all,
I saw some e30's with door pods for speakers, what have you guys/girls all done with your cars?

I was thinking of just using the factory mounting points (except fronts would have tweeters on dash).

also what sound deadening is reccomended?

Damplifier Pro is pricey but it rocks my floor board is covered with it.

Second Skin Damplifer Pro butyl rubber mats for car sound deadening are Second Skin Audio's industry leading sound deadening mat.

      Gruelius,
      Welcome, mate!
There's a bunch of good threads that show some pods and factory mounting speakers as well
Do a search for StereoInstaller1 threads, another good one was Stuck's door install.

As far as deadening material. Secondskin does appear to very popular these days.
I don't think Australia has Lowes - a home improvement store, but they sell a butyl based product called Peel and Seal.

This is basically the same stuff as the big names just a little thinner. The cost it SO GOOD, it cant be overlooked. Dont know whether you can get this stuff, but its just so cheap.

I look forward to the day I get to come to the southern hemisphere.

Peel and Seal is the cheapest but never the recommended route. Asphalt based sound deadening should be considered last!

        I went with RAAMmat:

        Elemental Design is another:

You want a rubber butyl based product, not asphalt. If you want something to actually quiet the road noise, then pick up some closed cell foam. Most of the same companies have their own version of it. I would start with the rubber butyl to kill some vibrations, and then do closed cell foam if you want more.
