Anything behind that statement? I've used them for 15 years almost exclusively and have loved every single one I had. From their entry level stuff to the highest excelon models. Even their double din screens. Use one of those currently in the wife's SUV.

I have it in my Jeep, its an OK radio...very basic.
I honestly think that the Alpine which it replaced had better sound output from the stock amp built in using factory speakers.

^ what he said. I have an excelon and the UI is horrible. MP3 playback is impossible and the response is just trash. I do love thee built in crossovers though. Thats the only reason i'm staying...

Alpine has pretty much the best sound. They do have red illumination as well

^Agree, Alpine has the best "out of the box sound." But I have never liked their styling at all, though their UI is better for intuitiveness. But like anything tech, play with it for a night and you will be a pro by morning so it never bothers me the Kenwoods UI is overcomplicated.

OP, that radio will do you fine. At that price it's not bad. If alpine has anything comparable, and you are not running amps, you may want to look at those. Their internal amp does sound a bit cleaner than the Kenwood's.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I currently have an older Alpine CD deck without aux input or MP3 disc playback and was looking for something basic w/MP3 capabilities on a budget.

I have premium sound so it will be going through the factory amp.
