I've been looking around to getting a decent unit. Been listening to radio since i got the car a couple of months ago and im getting tired of it.

Please post what you have and a picture if you can, I want to see what looks good in the e30 interior, thanks!

No, when I install it I'll run an auxiliary cable through the hole below the HVAC so I can tuck it back up when I don't need it. The only functions I really need out of my radio are FM Radio, and iPod Connectivity. I can retain the retro look while it still does what I'll need to do.

Nice! I would actually prefer to do that.

Is that also possible on the oem radio? and is there a difference in the quality of the auxiliary compared to an after market unit with aux input up on the face?

CD43 is the only cd player I would get for E30.

I am a big fan of the Kenwood eXcelon X492 and 493. They do glow blue so they are kind of 'ugly' but they have good sound quality. Lots of options and a front iPod/USB and a Front Aux. Nice set of RCA Pre-Outs and subwoofer controls.

Best part it is very easy to use. Have one in the 328iC and one on order for the E30.

Alpine CDA-9835-sorry for the terrible picture-it looks much better in person.

Been discontinued for a few years, but still available used on ebay and other places. Very high quality, excellent Biolite screen, switchable amber illumination, CD/MP3/WMA playback, iPod control with optional adapter, satellite radio with optional tuner, 2/3 way active crossover with time alignment, etc. Very full featured to say the least.

Another one to consider would be the older Sony CDX-C910 Mobile ES head unit. One of the best car stereo head units ever made-slightly sparse on features, but built with sound quality as its primary focus. But you would have to add an outboard amplifier since it is a preamp only unit.

Alpine 7995 is kind of like that as well, very nice, but doesn't match the e30 interior.

Thats a pretty nifty set-up there I'll post mine in a few minutes.

EDIT: Here is mine, it was 100 bucks brand new and had all the features I needed.

I started this a while back in hopes to get more feedback. The list is current, and if/when more people post pics, i'll update.
