    Stock Tape Deck output problem....

Yes, I'm still rocking the stock deck and have NO immediate plans for an upgrade. I'm old school and I like my tapes! :D
Problem is that tape output only plays through the left speakers. Radio output is fine and works on all speakers. So, it's not a speaker or wiring problem. I'm assuming that the tape deck head(s) is fecked up and just old and fried -or- it's super dirty after 20 years of use and needs to be cleaned.

I don't want to hear the "just replace the head unit" comments PLZ! That's not going to happen (for a long while).
Anyone else have this problem with theirs? Any possible remedies? Tape head cleaner? Other?

    Suggestions PLZ!
    Thanks!

Sounds like it just might be time to bust out the denatured alcohol and clean the bitch.

You are gonna wanna pop the cover off and clean thoroughly...GL!

      Thanks Luke,

I figured that was about my only option. <sigh>

In your opinion, and chance the head(s) is just pain fecked? Guess we'll wait and see.
Need to do some searching now and figure out how this old cocksuck slides out. Prob a special puller I would assume.

      Thanks for your time!
