My friend has a JVC deck in his Jetta 4. He's got the display set to permanent red, and his buttons are red, too. Thus it matches the VW interior perfectly. However, it's kinda gawdy and not really my cup of tea. Remember, it illuminates a distinct blood red, not amber. It wouldn't match the bimmer too well.

Its the amber/orange lighting to match the E30 interior lighting as well as the black face plate (silver or gold headunits look out of place in an E30). The 745 is a great deck. I got the Clarion 845 and I'm pretty happy with it (although WMA sucks ass). Someone needs to license AAC or Lossless Encoding support from Apple.
