    Subwoofer Question

    I just found a pair of Rockford P3 10" subs for sale on craigslist in a decent box for a pretty ridiculously low price, but he says there are cracks in the plastic on the subs, but claims they sound like new. If they do in fact sound fine, will the cracks be a problem in the long run? Better yet can they be relatively cheaply repaired? I know nothing about car audio except i want big boom, and i know what companies are half decent. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I've seen subs with cracked plastic cones that sounded fine at low volume, but distorted like fuck when you turned it up. Big boom will likely make the cone crack more.

      If you cannot hear the buzzez and rattles (like the guys with their woofers facing backwards) they should sound fine.

        During my research for a sub to use in Luke's box, I read many instances of this happening with the lower end Rockford subs. You may or may not be able to hear it now, but from what I read it can become audible. I personally chose to stay far away from the Rockford subs, even though the discounted prices for new ones were very attractive.

              10" or 12"? If it is the 10's, get them (new, right?) and I will take the 2nd one.

              I need a woofer for the E34. I suppose that crowd is gonna want boxes too. Last one I did kicked ass, but now I wanna find an easier setup than that box was.

              Shoot me a PM with a price on the 2nd woofer?

                    FUCKING FUCK i cant find the JBL's anymore. They were on craigslist but they were just about brand new. I'll let you know if i find them again
