Best location to mount Bluetooth microphone in the E30?

My E30 just went bluetooth capable! Just wondering where people are mounting their microphones with the best results.

I first had it at the top of the A-pillar but it sounded like crap.

I have it at the top of the door frame, taped onto the weather stripping about 10 inches from my face, and apparently it was better.

Anybody tried it anywhere else with good results? Perhaps right on top of the steering column?

I was thinking on top of the steering column like you mentioned last, right behind the steering wheel somewhere.

    Cant sleep. FML.

On BMWs that come standard with bluetooth the stock location is up where our check panel would be. Might want to try it there.

What Bluetooth kit did you get? how do you like it?

Mine is up by the check panel. Works best, but it sucks that they cannot be flush mounted.

One of these days I am gonna figure out how to use the stock mic from like an E34 or something...in my spare time.

I looked at the steering column this morning, and realized it was too angled, the mic would end up pointing above my head than at my face.

Any advice on how to run wire up there, I looked around and the edges of the trim are all really secured tightly that I can't pry it slightly to stick the wire in there?

I got a JVC with *gulp* integrated bluetooth (hopes to not start a Luke-rant lol): http://www.jvc.ca/en/consumer/produc...?model=KD-R800 Functionality wise, the deck is decent, but does not have as many tweaking options as well as my old Pioneer deck. Incoming BT sound quality is great, but outgoing is an issue at the moment.

          Thanks

Pull the weatherstripping along the door: "A-Pillar" covering is wrapped under the "pinch weld", AKA weatherstripping/door seal.

Post up your results with the JVC.

Thanks, but I meant the trim for the top panel where the check panel/sun visors are mounted, that thing is sealed up like a mother at the front along the winshield and at the back along the sunroof (and I really don't wanna be messing with that side and end up with a leaking roof).

Mine is on the A pillar mid way between the top and the bottom, sounds pretty good according to everyone whom I have called.

How about a different Mic? I am using the Kenwood KVT-512 BT kit.

Getting up there is easy: drop the check panel and pull down enough to get the wire through.
