quick question about a sub and amp

So I'm looking into upgrading my sound system a little and have a question. So my friend has an Infinity Kappa Perfect 12 sub in a ported box with a 1200 watt class D Insignia amp. He wants around $150 for this set-up, so I want to know is this a good setup to run and worth the money he's asking? Any comments are welcome as I'm not too good with stereo's so I'd be happy for any input even if it's negative.

But from what I've read about the sub he's got is that it's got good bump for a single 12. I don't have any subs at the moment, so I'm thinking 1 12 would do fine.

you get used to its sound, i may souind GREAT at first but then its just mehh.

i used to have a kicker CVR comp 12" with a 1000watt amp, and i replaced it with two shitty 10's and a shitty 760watt amp, and they easily out thumped it.

get his amp, then find 2 10's or 12's n you'll be in buisness :up:

Those subs have surprisingly good sound even though it is infinity. That amp on the other hand is junk. Try to get that sub for $75 and let him keep that amp.

Trust me and Mless5 on this-and I bet Luke would agree-forget the amp, it's crap. The Infinity Kappa Perfect sub is very good-I had a 10" version years ago and I was extremely pleased with how it sounded. That Infinity sub had a suggested retail of around $250-300 when new, so if you can get it for under $100 its a good deal.

The amp is a wretched pile of shit. Taiwan or Korean, but gutless as hell, completely worthless.

The box that deal is gonna come with is also worthless, fits like shit, sounds like shit and will rattle the shit out of your trunk.

I say go for it, the worst that can happen is that you waste $150. If you put that woofer in one of my boxes, you could at least learn what good bass sounds like.

Oh yeah, and worry not about the retarded idea that you will get "bored" with 1 12.If it is the typical bullshit "i got 1200 watts, yo!" shitty lazy ass install, yeah, no amount of power or woofer will ever keep you happy. Shitty bass is shitty bass, no matter what.

I have 1 12 in my car...trust me, it is enough to keep ME happy forever. I promise, I am WAY pickier than you.

amp brands dont really matter, the only thing bad about a foriegn amp is you cant find parts/skematics to repair it.
