    Sub Wiring. Fixed. Thanks

ok so i've been driving around for ~1month now thinking that I had my sub/amp hooked up fine, but realized I wasn't getting much bass out of my sub... when i look in my trunk, I notice there is an incredible amount of bass, but it isn't coming from my sub??? it is coming from my passenger side rear speaker... i was amazed, because this speaker is putting out about as much bass as a sub. but any ways. im thinking i hooked up the RCA cable wrong, but i cant figure out where to run the RCA cable. these are pics i took today of the RCA disconnected. i had it wired into a cable with a tag on it that said "system remote control" in the pictures the grey wires noit connected to anything say "Front Output" and im guessing the other parts are rear output? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    bump damnit...

its a pioneer HU... are the round circle things the preouts? do I just plug the RCA into one of the preouts? and if so, does that mean i have to get a connector and splice it into the RCA?

    TIA

you can't just "splice" into RCA cables.

what does the manual say the connectors are?

If I remember correctly on my old pioneer head unit the two rca connections that are reccessed are for the subs

thats what im thinking, but do i just stick the RCA cable in there and tape it or get a special connector and wire the RCA the the connector?

and also, does the rca have to connect to both outputs?

If you're hooking up an external sub amp to your deck, you can use any set of pre-amp outputs. I'm guessing that the ones that are recessed are for a sub output (ie, fader won't affect them). The only wire that's coming out of the back of the deck that you'll want to hook up to the amp is the 'remote' wire... it tells the amp when to turn on and off. So from the deck you'll only have a pair of RCAs and the remote wire going back to the amp.

Are your other speakers running off of the deck amplifier?

Is there a way to control the sub volume on your deck? I'm thinking the volume on the sub preouts might be down.

How many watts is your sub amp? Do the gains need to be turned up?

all the settings are fine, its just that instead of the bass coming out of my sub, it is coming out of the speaker, and its extrememly strong too... it sounds like a sub, but its not, my sub isn't doing anything at all and the way i have my HU set up it Front+S/W.

Is your sub a DVC? How many watts is your amp? Are you sure the amp is on and you're not getting 'cross-talk' from the rear speakers to the sub?

I'm having this same problem and coincidentally we have the same head units but I am runnign two different amps a 4 channel and a 2 channel and I have all these Y connectors into those 2 pre-outs. There is more bass from the interior speakers then the subs. I'm about to go say fuck pioneer and get a 3 preout headunit.
