    Recommended 4-channel amp?

    Here's my setup:

    - Pioneer AVIC-D3 deck
    - 6.5" Alpine Type-R components up front (SPR-17S)
    - Alpine 5.25" Type-R speakers in the rear (SPR-13C)

I am leaning against running a sub, so I want to make sure that my speakers are properly powered. I don't want to spend a lot of money, but I want the speakers to be run to their full potential or close to it for a reasonable price. Not just running off the deck.

To me, a lot of 4 channel amps seem the same or very similar - I'm just looking to max out my setup without going to a sub setup. I'll probably pick something up on eBay or Craigslist in new or lightly used condition. Alpine, JL Audio, etc. preferred.

    Suggestions appreciated!

    What is your budget?

Look for almost anything (other than crap like Jensen, Kraco, Pyramid and the like brands) with about 50watts per channel RMS (not PEAK).

I'm a big fan of the old Kenwood X4R, which, while not perfect, gives you DSP, parametric eq, time alignment, crossovers (including a useful quasi-bandpass function on the b-channel), and is available for $200ish. Upgrading from the X4R requires either an external processor, or, well, a Zapco amp.

It ain't perfect, but it's hard to beat that functionality. Too bad Kenwood took all th DSP functions out of it's successor.

See if you can still get this through amazon.com, was under $100 brand new! Using it for my front polk db speakers and one polk db sub (yet to install it).

Perfect for a budget 4ch amp imho.

Can run 2ohm stereo or 2ohm bridged.

I have the KACX4R, it is a great amp. Definately not perfect, but if you're running alpine type-r's you aren't looking for perfection. It really would be a good match for those. It runs 75 watts RMS (very conservatively rated) and best of all it makes it so the only way you can clip it is by ignoring the dummy light so anyone can tune their own amp decently.

I would be very surprised if that MB Quart DSC450 can run 2ohm mono though, just fyi. But still a decent amp for the price, doesn't live up to the MB Quart speakers. It's basically just a rebadged maxxsonics amp.

Also, is your avic-d3 in an e30? I would really like to see pictures if it is. I couldn't see a good way to get a double din into the dash.
