Do we know exactly what car that "blue base" is out of?

OK, so the E30 part is easy, but I cannot find an E36 diagram showing the switch
The schematic for the E30 is pretty simple:
Brown (2X) is ground
Green/Blue is +12V (from fuse 17, 30A)
Open/Raise is Black
Lower/Close is Green
So here is the deal: you will see (when 100% installed) ground on both Green and Black...but I can't tell if there is a brown wire on the E36 (?) switch or not...
Either way, both green and black "rest" on ground, then switch to +12V when you activate the switch. These are the wires that run the motor, albeit indirectly.
So, if you grab the new switch and a DMM, I clearly saw a green/blue wire on it, so cconnect from the GR/BU and check all wires one at a time to see which 2 switch over to continuity when you activate the switch.
Counting those 2 as the "up and "down", you should find continuity between those 2 and a 3rd wire when resting...that would be the ground.
I hope that helps in figuring out the switch, but sometimes I swear to fuck...if I could make it a law that all questions of ANY technical nature include EVERY detail (for example, WHAT CAR IS THE SWITCH FROM?) so diagnostics are easier...

All I know about the blue base switch is it came from an e36, maybe Franco can chime in since I bought it from him.
There are no brown wires on the e36 switch.
I'll play with my continuity setting on my MM when I get home this evening and report back, thanks for the help!

yes they are the small white base, but no need, I got the switch working! Thanks to everyone, especially Stereoinstaller1 and Peerless over on tech. I have some wiring clean up to do, then I'll post some installed pics later tonight with a wiring how-to.

yeah, thanks to all of you. Finished up the install last night, love the look/fell of the e36 switches compared to the e30 lego block ones. Windows are next, I have the 2 white base units to use for those. I think I can handle the install on those now though, I have gotten quite proficient with a continuity tester. :)
