    1987 3251 vert build

So I purchased this car a couple of weeks ago. I am in the planning stages of my audio build. I am a fan of elementaldesigns equipment. I have two other cars with complete systems from them (2001 S4 and a 2001 3301 sedan)

Anyway, I'm planning on using their components upfront, their 2 channel amp to run the comps, their nine.1 mono amp for my sub stage. But that is where the problems come in. I'm not sure what I doing with regard to subs. I was hoping for input from this forum. Anyone do trunk subs in a vert? I was also considering buying an spare set of rear side panels and maybe molding an 8" sub in each. My back seats won't really be used (I'm 6'2" so seat is way back) So if the subs extend a little (less than 6" I hope) I won't be concerned.

I just want to see who else has done this. And hopefully get some ideas and pointers.

    Thanks,
    Joe

my car is a convertible as well.

any audio at rolling speed get washed out with the top down.

i wouldn't go too crazy thats all i'm saying.

Not looking to go crazy with the audi. My 2 other cars have full blown systems running dual 12" subs. For this build, I'm looking for more fill bass than anything. I have these 6.5 inch subs that I've been itching to try. They handle 200w each and I have an appropriate amp for them.

Issue is that I want to run them in mini enclosures where the rear speakers are housed. Just wanted to see if any one else has used this location for subs. I need .25-.3 cu.ft. each. Not sure if it can be achieved in those spots.

just mold the entire backseat into a sub sound system.

I get decent bass in my car from a 12" TREO in a sealed box. I think I have plenty bass (though I dont like it too high).

Im also running some Infinity 5.25 components all around with a nice 4 channel for those and a mono for my sub. If you have good enough mid bass in your car, you wont need as much sub bass.

Also the convertible deck lid is a nice place for some 6.5-8inch woofers. You will just need a bunch of Dynamat.

How would this work unless you never put the top down?

Ive test fitted some 6x9's at the pick your part before, im pretty sure flush mount woofers would work, but the decklid would rattle without a lot of dynamat

rear deck lid would definitely rattle a lot. I'm going to open my rear side panels and see if I could mold a frame for some fiberglass enclosures. In a vert, I think the best bass would be anything inside the cabin vs. the trunk.

no room in there, i barely fit my components, custom rear seat? manual verts have a big old space between the trunk and the rear seat, its there for chassis stiffening but a little reinforced cut wouldn't hurt........... Dude my bad,Im going way overboard

defintely no space behind the rear oem speaker locations. I'm going to see if I can do something behind the rear seats, but in the cabin. Maybe remove the foam padding behind each seat (where the 8" subs would be) Not sure how much the rear seat backs would muffle the sound. Any thoughts?

harry, the space between the trunk and back seat you speak of, is that where the top folds into? Or is there another spot I am overlooking? Is your 12" sealed in a box in the trunk?
