rewired factory premium fronts and got a tweeter problem

ok, i rewired my factory premium front speakers off the factory amp and to my headunit. but after doing so the tweeters started producing sound with fuzz. it was outputing the song... but at a lower volume then it should be and with alot of fuzz (not static or buzzing but a fuzz/fuzzy cutting out).

what i did with each side is i unpluged the factory positive and negative wires and put in new ones. so thats 2 wires replaced only. there was a third wire on each speaker wihich i did not touch. im not sure what that is actually... it coudl be ground as i remember it being green on one side (right). the other side could be green too for that 3rd wire i didnt touch but i dont remember.

the speakers are fine, so i just pulled out the wire on the back of the tweeter to leave it alone for now.

now i do realize that a wire from the tweeter to the speaker is missing... is this taht green wire?

    whats going on here?

My guess is that you bypassed the tweeter crossover which is built into the front speaker and your tweeter is trying to play low frequencies.

but i replaced the 2 old speaker wires with 2 new ones in the exact same way/spot.

oh well, ill figure something out. by the way...anyone know a link or something to the wiring diagram for premium factory speakers? that would have helped more yesterday but it still would be nice to look at.

are the tweeters just connected to the side pannel spekers + and - terminals? i wonder why my factory wiring only had 3 wires on the speaker (2 for speaker and 1 that goes to tweeter). where is the other tweeter wire going?

i know it worked before. ill try connecting it to the factory speakers + and - but im still confused as to where the other wire of the tweeter is going to... there were 3 wires on the speaker but also 2 on the tweeter... thast 5 connections total but only one of the speaker ones goes to the tweeter. no idea where the tweeter is getting its other wire from.

There should be two wires going to the tweeter.

Ken, the crossover for the factory tweeter is built into the factory woofer in the kicks? So the radio input (pos/neg) comes into the kick speaker, then the kick speaker sends the pos neg to the tweeter?

Your missing a wire. Look around in there, it should be there.

It sounds like you're getting dirty power. James had the same issue when he installed his MB Quart components, turned out the head unit was wired to get power from the starter so there was a lot of electrical noise. Try running power to the head unit through a clean source like directly to the battery and grounding it to the chassis.
