Any possibility of having a box made so that I can install a JL 8w7 / 8w3 sub in my rear deck. 8in sub is plenty low end for me. The 8 sounds like a 10. Plus, there is no arm rest / ski bypass in this car. The car is a 91 318is coupe 5sp, Alpine CDA 9886 head. Alpine R-series co-ax mid and highs, 5.25 in the rear deck and kick panels. Alpine 5x100 mono. Alpine 4 channel. All the above componants came out of a wrecked car. I had to get them out of the car before the insurance company tow arrived. Any ideas?????????? Thanks guys.

Hey Luke, whats up. I did see bars/ trunk springs. I understand that these can be cut. Its just that your trunk lid will not stay up. Local stereo guy recommended vert retro fit and then having the 8" sub installed. Whats your opinion? Any possibilities of a box made up with that in mind???????? I just hate to put a 10" thru my rear seat back. Thanks for the feedback................................G.

You can just pull those springs out, no need to cut them. Install parts from a vert and viola your trunk stays up. What you need to do is pull out the rear seats, pull off the rear deck, and then start cutting. Can't go back after that. I put 2 6.5 subs in the rear deck which was pretty easy so an 8 is do-able but an 8w7 needs a pretty good sized box.

I design and build what I think are the most logical possible solutions.
If you want something different, go for it. Boxes are just not all that hard to build. Designing, fitting, finishing, cutting a huge hole in your rear deck to fit an 8" woofer through, making a MDF plate to make it pretty, fashioning a grille, making a panel that will fit the underside of the rear deck all to my standards would take me 2 or 3 days.
Especially as I am old and slow!
Go find a table saw, but a sheet of MDF and get busy!

Luke,.......................Old' slow'. I'll bet I got you by a few years. Consider the idea, shoot me a quote and we'll go from there. Any info on hole cutting would be appreciated. I think the majority of us respect your opinoin and your work. Cheers............................................ .G.
