    List of 5.25" component speakers?

I was just wondering if anyone has compiled a list of speakers that fit into the stock locations.

I found these the other day and was wondering if anyone was running them. After missing out on the crazy PPI sell it is time to start searching for something again...

    Thanks!

    Those will "kinda" fit.

Note 2 things: 1. The thickness of the frame of the speaker, vs the stock thin stamped sheet metal. This will make the entire mounting procedure tough, but these should still fit.

    2. The slight protrusion of the "surround" (the flexy rubber part) which will slap against the front kickpanels, or worse yet, will prevent cone movement which sounds bad and will eventually blow the speaker from lack of airflow internally.

What I did to cure this on a set of PPIs was to use longer mounting screws and put a 10mm nut under the head of the screw, which was a real pain in the butt to get that last screw in...y'know, the one that mounts the cover? I put that screw through a 10mm nut inside the kickpanel, then assembled it.

The stock panels were slightly "stretched" but it is very hard to spot.

Next time you get a chance to see a set of Infinity speakers...there is a bad example right there!

So, what is the best speaker that fits in the stock location? I know that is it would be best to move the speakers up off the floor onto the doors, but I don't have the know how to make pods for the doors, and there really isn't any commercial solution.

Yeah, I wish I had the time/space to invent something...but my expectations are pretty high for what I put out.

I keep thinking a small enclosure at the bottom of the door, a drop in replacement for the pocket kinda thing, with a 4" mid/woofer and a 5" passive radiator that would actually make an E30 worth listening to with no sub, (or even kinda make bass in a 'vert) would kick ass, but hell, they would be $600/pr or more when you look at how much time/work/materials they would take.

IMO, the best sounding full range speaker system I have heard personally is the Memphis MSync...now keep in mind we are talking about IN an E30, with NO sub...not some bullshit on a display board, not something in your buddies CRX, but actually installed in an E30, the MSync 5.25" is the best fullrange I have heard.

They still have the same fitment issues as the Zapcos above, BTW.

No, a full enclosure that actually makes useful bass, not just some hokey panel made of plastic or MDF covered in vinyl.
