Fan resistor reparable?

The negative side of my bosch resistor is broken off. It seems to have gotten hit. Could I solder the spring together, or is the spring neccesary to make it work. I ask because that damn part is $32.00. TIA

You might be able to solder it but, I know if it was my car I'd feel safer knowing I had a new one that works.
