    Interior light cut out...HELP

 I'm losing it on this one.... when the driver's door opens, the light will comes on sometimes, If I play with the grommet for the door harness, or just move the door, the lights flicker on and off.... I took out the ...relay?.... from behind the driver side speaker. Everything seem'd to be normal , yet they still flicker .......what else could it be.

    Please, any help is appreciated.

Bad door switch? I had to take out all of mine and clean them off with contact cleaner, and tweak the flimsy contacts to make them work. I guess 20 years had worn them down.

I don't think its the door switch, the connect is good and clean.... the lights really act up when you play with the grommet for the harness leading to the door

Mine was good and clean too, but the contacts had lost just enough of their spring to intermittantly function. The switch in my 4door grounds to the body, the contact "spring" had gotten tired.

Playing with the harness to the door doesn't rule out the switch automatically, it would depend on how much slack is in the wiring harness and whether it is in contact with the switch indirectly.

The switch is on the door frame and the light is on the body, so there should not be anything in the door for the interior light past the door frame.

Pull that grommet back and unplug the harness. Odds are it has some corrosion. Spray it with some contact cleaner and hit it with a brush if necessary. That should take care of it, very common problem on these cars.

Mine do the same. When I pull them they come on, but when I let go, they turn back off. I plan on cleaning them or replacing them

Did you remove it from the car to clean it? My driver's side switch was doing the same thing and when I pulled it off the car I found that the screw was rusted/corroded and so were the contacts that make the seal when the door opens. I sanded off all of the rust/corrosion and now it works perfect every time.
