First off, let me tell you rule #1 in electrical diagnosis: your eyeballs cannot test a fuse.

If you do not measure voltage (and I recommend a test light) you have not tested that fuse...follow this rule until death!

The side benefit is that you also know that the circuit is live.

So grab your testlight and check Fuse 6. It is 7.5A. KEY ON!!!

Now, drop the "hush panel' and check the violet/green wire, at the brake switch.

Do remember that both that fuse and the wire need to be tested with the key on!

Now check that green/red wire while pressing on the brake pedal. If it lights, you now get UGLY issues: you have a broken wire somewhere between the front and back of the car

On your ignition harness is a violet wire: that is what powers fuse 6. There is only 1 connection shown between that ignition switch and the fuse, so check power at your ignition switch next.

The Brake switch can come loose so the plunger won't get depressed when the brake pedal is applied.

I had it happen on my 325es and tightening up the bolts resolved the issue.

Sounds like the turn signal switch could be bad, the brake light circuit does run through the switch. Otherwise you could have some of the wiring messed up at the connector at the bottom of the column?
