Wiring for the coolant temperature switch

I took mine out and had to cut all the wires and put new connectors, but now I can't remember the order of the wires. There is supposed to be a black with red stripe, solid black, and a green with black stripe (or maybe vice-versa?)

If anybody could check under their hood really quick and see what order the wires go I would really appreciate it. The sensor is on the passenger side of the radiator, and the wires should be coming out of the bottom of the sensor. So just tell me the order they are from left to right.

I think you are talking about the thermo-switch for the aux fan? Its a three wire sensor/switch that runs into the radiator correct?
If so:
Car/Switch:
Green,Black (1) / pin 0
Black (2) / pin t1
Black,Brown (3) / pin t2

I would look at mine, but it was unplugged when I bought the car and the plug housing is long gone.

But doesn't the computer use it for something to do with idle? Since I screwed with it my car idles like ass.

What model? My 89 325i idles perfectly with it disconnected. I think it is just a temp switch to turn on the aux fan.

It's an 88 325ix. I think I found the source of the rough idle though, my intake boot is torn in a couple different places. Must have just not noticed before.

Regardless, I'm headed to the junkyard today to pick up a pigtail for it. Thanks for the help.

One more question: When the switch is in and the wires are pointed down, which way is the switch? It has a flat side and a round side, which side goes up?

I am missing the "lock in" piece.
