    Seat foam & Lukebox

How much foam have you cut out of your standard seatback to get the Lukebox happy? I've removed about 2-3". Don't know how much more I can go without causing it to deform on the front side. Is there any advantage to removing more than the outline of the ski-pass?

I believe reading that cutting too much foam out of a non ski-pass seat allows the vinyl/leather to vibrate at higher volumes.

Fact is, you don't have to cut any of the foam and the material will still vibrate at higher volume, making your sub sound like it has a burnt voice coil. Hence, that's why I bought a rear seat with a fold down armrest-overall it's the preferred solution.

Try this: space the bottom of your seat out 2" or so.

If it works, redrill to make fit

Luke,I like that idea. I have been dreaming of one of your boxes and been wondering what to do with my cloth rear seat.

            Hm

John, I'm telling ya man, my wifes cloth seat really does not affect the sound much at all, like 10%, max.

I glued the foam chunk back in (just a couple dabs). We'll see which way sounds better.

Gotta get a box and try it out. I hope one of yours will fit as I put my PPI x overs under the rear deck. Awfully close to 15 inches.

john, the speaker "bulges" are the mark.

You MUST remove the tar on the floor...with the trunk carpet in, you should have exactly 15" from the bottom of the rear deck to the carpet...maybe 1/16th to spare.

                      My shit fits TIGHT, yo!

Too true! I will say that it only took about 1/2 hour with a heat gun and a pry-bar to remove the tar. Start with the heat gun on top of the tar @ one of the puzzle pieces at the edge of the spare tire well. Once you get the adhesive tacky pry it up a little & fire the heat gun under the lip & continue working your way around. All my tar weighed in @ 32#.

Once the tar is out it slides right in. Then it is time to take the spare tire out & redo the back 2/3 of the floor & tire-well with a few coats of ED's deadening paint. (Magnaflows are loud--even with a resonator)

Foam ftl with Luke's box. Just mho though. But I made the mistake of listening to it without the seat back in.

Ended up putting 2 ports (similar to the ones in the box itself) going through the vinyl. Not the best looking solution, but doesn't detract from the interior too much. Fold down seat would be ftw though.
