what happens if you loose your radio code?

so the e30 i picked up came with the manual with codes written in it.the radio screen says code so iam assuming you just enter the codes thats hand written in the manual right?but nothing happens

is there a way to find out if i have the right code to begin with?
is there a specail way to enter it?
i bet iam srewed and need a new radio huh?

You should have a little business card looking thing saying Anti-Theft something something that has the radio code on there.
You enter it just by pressing the 1 through 6 buttons.

If you lost it, I think the dealership can help you.

not so easy; you need proof of ownership first. 2nd what if the radio is no longer the original. then even if you got the code it would be useless.
Take the radio out and write the vin number down. they can look up the code to the radio. 3rd. even the right may not work. Sometimes the radio will lock itself out making it completely inoperable. I had this happen with 3 decks.
all didn't work and had a radio guy open it up and re-code it for me.

if you get the right code make sure you type it in correctly. if it rejects the code let the ign be in accessory position for about 30-1hour leaving the radio in the pwr on position. then try it again. if you do this more then 3 times the radio may lock you out again.

Disconnect battery and then reconnect; leave car on again for 30-60 and try the sequence again. Should work.

Thanks guys but all taking care off.code didn't work from dealer so just bough after market.
