Finally got the chance to install and play with the JVC KD-R900.
First, it looks just fine. Maybe a little gaudy (sorry for the phone pics) but considering what the guys who design car stereos think we want, this at least doesn't suck:

But pretty decent, especially compared to what other affordable choices are out there.
When you turn your headlights on, the display dims. This shows just how perfect the "default" orange is. I am sure someone could fine tune a custom color, but this would be OK by me any day.

Sorry for the red LED above the deck, that is because Scytek alarms generally keep the LED on when the doors are open to show the system is working properly. You can change that, but I like it.

This thing is great. Terrific controls, menus well designed, adequate in every way...except the bastards didn't provide a dedicated power antenna output.
I used a unused switch from a previous install to control the antenna so it need only be up for radio, but down for all other use.
