Aux on stock stereo

Hey guys. my beater E30 has the stock BMW radio in it, and before i waste time pulling it out to look for my self on the off chance it does.. does it have an auxilary RCA or similar input? Car has a factory 10CD stacker if that has a bearing on it.

It does have a tape player as well so i know i can get one of those adaptors but, although its a beater, i want to keep it fairly clean looking and dont fancy a wire chilling out the front

There is a way to wire in a "tape adapter" directly into the unit so you can have an aux in of sorts, but you still have to put a blank tape in the deck. It was done to my stock radio and it worked pretty good. I just had the wire come down from behind the a/c controls, but you could probably run it up to one of the switch blanks and put an aux in up there. I'm sure there's a write up for this somewhere.

I did notice when I took my radio out that there was what looked like an I bus connector, I assume for CD changer input. Its possible that there is an aux input adapter that can hijack the changer input. I had one on my old E39 that did that, but I don't know how similar these early radios might be. Mines a 91, so its a pretty late radio for an E30.

It sfairly simple to mod your deck with a set of rca out out the back. I have done it to run my IPOD.
