Blower motor making noises...just read it...it's a little different story than usual

Blower motor installed, and a new resistor is on the way.

the issue is this...when i clamp down the cover with the two straps, the blower makes a growling noise inside the car, i unclip it, and it stops. Even if the cover is tight, it makes no noise, only when i reclip the straps...

is this hum/growl normal with the fan on? i am going to fiddle with it some when i get home, Lord-willing no rain.

figured out what it was....the fans in the 325es's are all the wrong size from the factory?

I don't believe you did. unless you installed a different blower fan. Two types came on e30's . Long small diameter and short large diameter. If your baskets are old it could possibly be getting out of round and or worn out or brittle as you put it.

        change the motor.

i did, with another from another car, not squealing like the original was, that God awful siren sound, yet it is rubbing on the other side of the housing, see the original fan cracked on the drivers side and made a groove, the "new" one cracked on the passenger side. how can i swap fans, or can I? This one i am not sure.....uggg, the noise is only audible on settings 3 and 4. sounds more like a growl/hum that the buzzing/clicking from rubbing on the housing. Is there a noise that comes from a worn out motor that seems to fit my description, the bearings seem good, no wiggle or play....BUT if you spin it with your hand, you can hear a slight friction as you turn the fan. but doesn't seem to fit the noise at high speed.

ANY input would be nice. And i think most of us suffer with some of these issues with our cars at SOME time...

I have the same issue. The fan exploded on my 88 325is so I took the fan out of my 84 325e and put it in. The fan is the exact same size, yet for some reason on speeds 3 and 4 there's a grinding noise. Pretty sure it's somehow hitting the plastic around it.

Pissing me the fuck off. :hitler:
