    Installing E36 Antenna Module?

OK, stereo gurus, here's one for you…

I picked up this antenna module out of an E36 sedan, thinking maybe there is some way to wire it up in my E30.

However, it has a lot more connections than I currently have in my car, and I would like some help trying to figure it out.

Here is what the unit looks like:

I typed out all the labels I saw on the unit, and marked the connections that I have with a check, and the ones that I don't have with a question mark.

I'm guessing I probably don't need to hook up the extra connections, however I also have a ground with my current setup, and don't know which one is the ground on the E36 unit.

I'm also not sure what to do with the top connections. On the E36, all three seemed to be connected to the rear window. I would guess I only need AM and one of the FM connections hooked up (which one?), but I don't know how to go about it exactly. Can I simply splice all connections into the defroster circuit? It looked like the E36 had all of them connected separately. I would like to be able to continue to use my defroster as well, is this possible? Should I just leave the defroster how it is and run some wires off of the E36 box and run them up the side of the window or along the trunk or something so that I can keep my defroster as-is?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

      Hmm…figured that is the case.

OK, so can anyone tell me where the ground is on the E36 box?

        Do E30s use diversity aerials?

The E46 is grounded through the mounting tabs. I'd assume this is the same.
