    Possessed stereo, faulty power wire.

My blaupunkt head unit has been really acting up lately and I don't think it is because the head unit is crap, even though that my be a factor. There is definitely too much power being drawn somewhere as my stereo turns off and back on when hitting the brakes or turn signals. Also when pressing the window switch when it is already all the way down or up.

The strangest thing is that it doesnt always do this. The brake/signal problem doesnt happen after driving it for about 15 miles.

Instead of trying to fix the source of this problem I think I'll just avoid it by running a new power wire, unless someone thinks that the cause could be something more serious.

Note: My analog clock never worked when I hooked it up, it only lights up but that might be unrelated.
West German BMWs, they just don't make the same as they did before the wall fell.
^Case in point: Auto-Repair Technology. Everytime my car isn't starting or acting up I let it sit, sometimes for an hour, sometimes for days. But it eventually fixes itself.

tell ya what...pull your deck out, write down what wires are connected to what and post that and a pic.

What you are describing sounds more like a bad alternator or bad body ground.

Alright thanks Luke. Ha ha wasn't sure if I would get such a quick response from you without posting "PAGING LUKE" like most of the audio threads on here. Actually I don't even think that I'm using the stock power wire for some reason or another. All the wiring is really quite fucked but let me go get pictures.

Ok I don't know how a picture of the mess will help but.

So here are the power wires. Black going to brown, yellow going to red/green red going to lavender.

Oh and quick question what do those two green/purple wires go to that are hanging out of the corner of the OBC hole?

Just tested the altenator recently and it was ok, but bad body ground is very likely.

Oh wow that was a dumb question about those two wires in the obc hole. I had forgotten that they are for the window switch cutoff, I figured this out quickly when I had tried to roll my windows down after work today. For some reason I think I had these wires connected together but also to a 12v hot wire. I'm not sure when I did that but it shouldn't have been hooked up that way. So I corrected that, not sure if it made a difference to the overall problem though.

Hmmmm....nothing too bad, actually. You of course see the exposed wire, that could easily ground shoved behind the deck... and that isn't exactly correct on the speaker wiring, but certainly nothing that would make it act weird.

Horrible? come on man don't you see that heat shrink? You should have seen the electrical tape nightmare it originally had. Ignore that blue wire with the tape, I took care of that as soon as I found it.

Had wiring done better with male female connectors and everything, but when a crack head ripped it all out and smashed up my heater controls I was just like fuck it.

But for the sake of constructive criticism which parts are horrible? How they are tangled? I got better heat shrink and will redo the exposed parts, but how else could I improve it?

Whats not correct on the speaker wiring? I ran 4 new wires, so that may be what looks weird. The original wires had some nicks were too short and had ghetto ass spices from the PO, Speaks kept going out or clipping so I just ran all new ones.
