Does the size of the magnet in the back of a sub make a difference in howmuch power it can take/give?

Why am i asking? because i have one 10" in my trunk with a huge magnet that take 1000w.

My uncle just gave me 2 free 12" (450w each) but they seem so light compared to my 10"

I don't think it is quite as simple as that, but I do think rule of thumb is yes, bigger is better.
