Do I get crossovers or new speakers?

My car came with MB Quart speakers in the front and back. I pulled the woofer and the model is RWC-130.

The trouble is, whoever put it in simply twisted a wire together to splice together the woofer and tweeter . This is bad for 2 reasons- one, you have full signal going to both speakers, and 2- have you ever heard MB Quart tweeters? They are unbelievable strong- the last thing it needs is more signal going to it. I used to have some MB's in my old car, and with the crossover, I'd drop the tweets -6dB and then it was much more balanced.

Anyhoo- I've been browsing ebay for crossovers and there are a ton for not too much, but any idea on what would be appropriate for these speakers? Or, should I just ditch them?

EDIT- I plan to power them from a deck for the time being, no amp. Maybe someday, but I'd rather spend the money on track days. Just need music to satiate the wife.

I don't see why you couldn't put a cheap set of crossovers in there. As long as the gain was adjustable so you could dial the tweeters down a touch.

"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."

Yeah, I think so too, but does anyone have a recommendation for what crossovers to get?

I have some alumapro component crossovers and 5.25 woofers (no tweeters) theses are around $350 retail and the crossovers are really nice. Will do $80 shipped for it all if interested
