Just an install of a door pod

I've had several requests for pictures of the back of my pods, how they install, and how the components fit in them installed. So here's a few pics of a passenger side pod getting installed. Its the version with the closed of map pocket which I prefer because I can mount my crossover in it. Enjoy :)

I'm installing an Elemental Designs 6.5" component setup and using a rockford fosgate grille because it looked better.

Here you can see the back with the crossover installed (I used double sided 3m tape).

Here you can see where I've put some wire connectors (from the amp) in the door which connect to wires that go to the crossover.

BAMMMMMMMM door pod installed!! It looks so sexy in there!

Looks good, better than the ones I made.

I had to ditch them though as they were encroaching on my leg room. I'm 6'8" and I need all the room I can get. Too bad, I really like yours.

So how do they actually attach to the door? Does it just use the stock "clips" or does it also bolt to the door somehow? I'd be afraid of rattling if it just used the clips.

Map pockets have the plastic clips at the bottom and 2 screws that you screw into it from behind the door panel. I've been riding around and jamming with my pods for months and haven't had an issue with rattling. Everyone should have these. They add to your cool factor and the ladies love them:)

Those are quite nice I must admit.

Are you still making them for 150? (The mounting of the crossover on the inside is something I hadn't thought of)

Yep I still make them. I just haven't gotten enough interest so I don't keep map pockets or speaker rings on hand. So upon placing a order I will have to get the appropriate sized rings and map pockets.

Get your damn crossovers OUT of that door NOW.

Doors have water running through them...well, you do live in Florida, but still...get them out of your doors.

Hi I'm just starting to look at upgrading system in '89 I so question

? Even though the cross over unit unit is 'protected' by the door card ? water coming through hole for wires ? or open window etc ? TIA

just the moisture from the water will make for rusty crossovers...put them where the stock speakers were, the wire run is incredibly easy, plus you already have the tweeter wires there.

Besides, electronic components shouldn't be slammed around, right?

SEM makes a great texture paint. Sand/prime/texture/paint or if you wanna "calm down" the texture, prime again over the texture with a high build.

This stuff is thick and you have to be careful to not go too deep when sanding. If I'm going to do a good amount of sanding on it then I just go ahead and brush over it with a coat of fiberglass resin, sand with 150, and then paint or go over it again with a higher grit depending on the finish I'm going with.
