    Factory radio?

Just wondering how good is a factory radio in an old e30? My dad still swears by it and says its an awesome sounding unit. With disc changer of course. Well the disc changer is on the fritz and i am debating swapping in a new head unit. Just curious what it compares to. Such as a cheap 100-150 dollar pioneer

    Thanks

    Premium? Your dad's right.
And for the 80's, shit was amazing.

yea premium. But you gotta realize its not the 80s anymore. Anyone know how much a cheap 100-150 pioneer stacks up to it? hell i wish my disc changer wasnt acting funky or i probably wouldnt think about changing it.

Oh and no diss on my dad. My dad knows his shit. But when it comes to older stuff he will not give some newer things a chance.

It is a simple as this: a modern $150 deck will kill a stock deck/amp combo. I have done far too many to think otherwise. However, if you want to retain the look/character of the original deck, they can be made to sound very good.

You can either simply solder RCA connectors on the speaker wires (different ground though) and feed that signal into a good amplifier, or use a retarded $250 line output converter, but I say get a better grade of amplifier instead!
