Did I mention that this car is full of SURPRISES? It's CHOCK FULL OF SURPRISES. Anyways: the fuel gauge ... floats weirdly. Sort of like a gauge with a bad connection to ground would. But, the light works reliably. So I went to check the sender on the driver side after making sure that the ground nut for the instrument is well seated.
Here comes the distinctly odd part: if I measure impedence with a cheapo tester, I get *very* varied numbers. Furthermore, just wiggling the points for the tester up and down the contact makes those number vary even more (10Ohm to 10kOhm...). Should I try sanding the contacts first? Should I assume the sender is bad and get another?
