I actually did a pretty decent size install on the same guys 'vert. I made a thread titled something like "Dear 'vert owners who want bass: FUCK OFF" or something like that.

If I were to do a 'vert today, here is an idea that has been kicking around in my brain for a second: Cut the glovebox in half so it is shallower, then motorize the new smaller glovebox so it is mounted on slides, not hinges. Next, build a tiny little box for an 8" and put it in front of this new, smaller glove box (against the firewall).

Other thoughts include using a pair of thin 8" woofer in fiberglass enclosures on either side of the rear seat, basically molded into the rear panels. I say if you are gonna redo those sides, that might not be too bad a deal anyway...except the only good sounding thin 8's I have seen are insanely expensive (the Kenwoods are fucking amazing little woofs) and you are talking about a roughly $1200 labor ticket minimum...

    Oh my fuck.

Darin, get a pic up would ya?

These absolutely rule. I am not even kidding. I did CorvallisBMWs car with deck power and a cheezeball Sony woofer (thanks, Danny) and the thing sounds fantastic. I bypassed the factory amp, but used the factory crossovers, and remounted the shell of the amp with the crossovers inside, so I am still using the stock plugs, wires and speakers, except the front mids and tweets. Everyone who heard it was amazed, absolutely floored. Easily the best sounding deck powered system I have ever heard.

You could easily make an E34 sound terrific for $500.

The 10" version is gonna be $200 plus shipping. a $50 woofer and a $100 amp (leaves you $150 for a deck, no problemo) and a days work...and we are talking world class sound, and hardly any trunk space used...this is badass.

This box is under 4" deep at the top(!).

Big woofers will not work. I bypassed Darins amp, so using the stock crossovers but on different power (deck power for now) and the sound is amazing...bass happens shortly.

You can do something like I did in Dale B's X5:

No worries, you can either do an aftermarket amp for everything and use the crossovers in the stock amp to control your speakers, or just add an amp for bass only.

I have done both ways... and there is still an excellent value in a 5 channel amp from PPI on sonicelectronix.com...the sound is much better, let me tell you!
