proper way to wire in front tweeters

I scored some front door tweeters from the local pick and pull yesterday ($6.00 for the pair), and need to know how to wire them into the front PROPERLY. I have run all new speaker wire to the fronts and rears. The ETM shows a cap factory between the fronts and tweets, but due to rewiring, I do not have this. What is the reccomended way to wire them in to not fuck things up?

Can they be run in series with the existing, or do I need to do something special to wire them in and not interfere with the existing speakers?

You need a crossover for each tweeter. This will cut the highs from the main speaker output, and cut the lows and mids from the tweeter output, leading to each speaker getting what it's supposed to, i.e. not blowing the tweeter by feeding it low-frequency sound.

Stock BMW premium speakers had a crossover mounted to the back (the simplest passive crossover is just an inductor and a capacitor). If yours have that, you can just plug the tweeter into it. Otherwise, get some crossovers (usually passive, but you can find active 4-channel ones).

mine have shit on them, guess I need some crossovers. Im just happy that the doors were pre-wired for the damn things, let alone have decent components

+1 on the crossover. Well worth the cost.

and keep in mind that the stock tweeter negative wire is kind of hard to find in the harness, but it is there.
