I'm running one in my 318is... it's much smaller than the OEM battery but I'm just using some foam blocks to make up the difference.

You're over killing it with the 0 gauge to the trunk... a more appropriate upgrade in these cars is to upgrade the 60amp alternator to something more modern and capable. LOL I routinely hit the low 12's in mine with my electric fans running, AC, and "2000w"mono + "1200w" 4ch amps cranking out the tunes.

i just had an issue in my old 20th GTI and not having enough power to the back, and it was a mixture of not thick enough gauge to the back + battery.

what alternator would you recommend to slap in there (m44 motor) and should i just stick with the typical 4ga run to the back to a dist. block?

Well, after some research... we are only offered 80 or 90amp alternators for our cars (was wrong about the stock one being 60, it's 80). I did read you can use a 150amp GM one but it requires some modification/customizing of the brackets.

I've been running the stock 4 gauge now with no problems for almost 3 years with those HUGE amps. The yellow top should be all you need.

Also, have you changed your motor? Stock motor for that car is the m42 vs. the later e36 m44.
