For a triangular/hatchback style sub box how do you find the mounting depth? I've been searching around and cant figure how to determine it without actually building the box.
Yeah i got it all drawn out, im building a box like one of yours only im making it more like 3 cubic feet to hold an re xxx which has a 13 inch mounting depth and i just wanna make sure its deep enough before i set to work (overkill is the point here)
Difficult to figure because of the angle of the box. You are firing towards the back of the car I am guessing? The shape/size of your magnet and possibly frame of the driver could all play a role.
When I am absolutely in doubt... I take my angle finder and cut out the front part of the box (angled flange where sub will mount) and set it up at the angle I desire. Then set the sub in the flange and see if it hits the table or whatever you have the rig setup on.
If you are doing it the other way and mounting the sub on the flat end... do the same thing, but setup the flange at 90* and then use cardboard to approximate the rest of your box's depth and back angled parts.
Sorry if those descriptions sound confusing... they made sense to me in my head. ;)
