Previous Owner botched the speaker install somehow

ALright, so the PO put in 4 new kenwood speakers, 2 in the back 2 in the front. Sound good, except they messed up something cause whenever I even breathe on the volume knob they crackle. Any ideas about what's wrong?

Likely as not, "they" didn't mess anything up. Likely as not your deck is shot.

What car do you have and which system? What deck do you have?

Sounds exactly like my deck sounded when I got it. It was wired incorrectly to the stock wiring and sounded like shit. Pull your deck out and see whats going on?

Edit:See you have stock deck... Prolly what was said above. Pm me I have two original stereos hah.

        325e '87, it's the stock deck.

How do I take it out without the alarm going off?

That is just a blinking light, no worries.

Flip the flaps and unscrew it.

Alarms tend to be silent with the battery disconnected too
