My car battery died and now my car is immobilized

k Heres the story. I have my project e30 which is a 90 325i, I dont drive it all the time and I plan on doin an engine swap so I dont really mess to much with the car as it sits at the moment. The car had some leaky hoses so I took it to a shop and got it fixed, but it turns out it still needs a themostat so I let it sit for 2 weeks. I went to go start it agian and the battery was dead. I hooked up jumper cables but the car still would not start. all lights and windows work perfectly but a little light to the left is blinking red the entire time and my back brake lights are flashing. The car has an alarm that I didnt get anything with when I bought the car I actually didnt even think it was connected but I guess it is. From what I have heard my car battery died and so the alarm might have lost communitcation with the ecu and now its immobilized. I have tried to figure it out my turning the key in the door right and holding it and locking it but nothing seems to work. please help If you have had this problem before. can I reset it some how?

Take apart the left side of the dash, look for an obvious alarm brain, likely in a ball of wires, as 99% of the installers in the world suck.

When you find this OBVIOUSLY aftermarket part, simply unplug it. Typically, they have bunches of plugs, pull all of them.

If the car still does not start, post it up here. We can help you get through this.

If you are scared of electrical shit, sell the car before things get ugly.

Look underneath the steering coloum, by the key ignition wires, from there traceback the wires that have been connected to the origional wires, will lead you too an immobiliser, take them apart and connect back, this way you'll eliminate the imobilliser and the car should start.

I always try to use the newspaper to sell my cars before I trade them in.

An alarm is usually near the steering column and most of the circuits the alarm taps into are located there.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Haha I had a similar problem except mine always started.. the alarm just went off when it wanted. After various measures, I realized the alarm was only.triggered when you open the door all the way, and not just enough to squeeze yourself into the car. And whenever it felt like it needed to. I ended up just disconnecting the horn considering me going out to my car at all-time of the night and the alarm always going.off isn't exactly how I want my.neighbors to hate me.
